The recessed deck lower your centre of gravity makes for a more stable ride and improves feel and connection with the foil. The increased volume in the rails that helps stop water coming over the deck when pumping to get up on foil.
The bottom edge is soft with a heavy bevel. This combined with a progressive rocker and stepped tail all easy take off and is forgiving on those hard touch downs.
